Once again welcome back and, for the individuals graduating soon, I hope this last semester is quite enjoyable. For the many students that keep up with the Nicholls SGA and read The Nicholls Worth, we have a very busy semester for you!

First, we restructured the Student Government Association Committees. Last semester the Executive Board found the committees were not as effective as they could have been. Realizing this, in an effort to make them more effective, we removed all committee chairs and reopened applications for the positions.

Second, we are prepared to fix the way some of your most important fees are charged to you by switching them into a set amount. This switch will allow the different parts of Nicholls to grow with changing times.

Third, we are giving the students more power when it comes to electing new SGA officers. What we want to do, with your help, is lower the hour requirement for President and Vice President from its current amount (Junior standing) to the requirement of having attended one semester at Nicholls and earned twelve hours. This allows you, the student, to vote for any current Nicholls State student who falls under these guidelines. Simply put, we are giving you more choice.

The last thing I would like to accomplish is to continue to bring pride and professionalism to the SGA Senate. I am sure that very few students will read this, but for the individuals that do and find the few things I have said interesting, please contact me. I am trying to create an organization that teaches you how to be professional and interact with professionals, that gives you opportunities in the community and an organization that makes important connections to use for the rest of your life. Once again, if you actually read this and are interested, please speak to me about joining the Senate. The process and application must be done professionally. If the professionalism that I seek is not there, then your application will be denied. The SGA should be a group of elite students, and that is exactly what I seek and demand from the Senators.
