After a long year of waiting, the Student Programming Association will host Nicholls’ 52nd annual Crawfish Day on Thursday, April 16 from 4 to 8 p.m.
One of Nicholls’ biggest on-campus events, students, faculty and staff have the opportunity to enjoy thousands of pounds of boiled crawfish among other activities. Previous years have served over 4,000 pounds of crawfish over the course of the event.
This year’s theme will be “Crawfish in the Clouds,” as announced by Nicholls’ SPA. Various activities are scheduled to take place, with previous years including crawfish eating contests, local DJs and free T-shirt giveaways.

The new Mr. and Mrs. Nicholls will be announced at the end of the event. Last year’s Mr. and Mrs. Nicholls were Jax Badeaux and Myra Berthiaume.
Thursday’s celebration will be headed by a series of events throughout the week for students to attend.
The countdown to Crawfish Day began on Monday, April 13 with Crawfish Breakfast in the Galliano Dining Hall. Attendees were provided an array of late-night breakfast items, as well as a variety of crawfish-infused dishes such as crawfish grits and crawfish gravy.
In partnership with Alpha Psi Lambda, Nicholls SPA hosted Groove the Globe in the Shaver Gymnasium on Tuesday, April 14, providing prizes for students able to guess the country a song originated from.

Tillou’s Crawfish Games will occur on Wednesday, April 15, a recent addition to Crawfish Week that includes team competitions outside of the Harold J. Callais Recreation Center.
With Crawfish Day quickly approaching, Colonels are encouraged to take part in a longstanding tradition by doing what most Louisianans know best—enjoying good crawfish and a great time.
