Thibodaux’s Willow Café begins a new tradition this fall—fueling Colonels through finals week.
A mere five minutes’ drive from Nicholls’ campus, students looking for an afternoon study spot (or even for a treat following a successful final!) can stop by The Willow Café between Friday, Dec. 8, and Sunday, Dec. 10, when business hours will be extended.
While The Willow operates from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. on weekdays, there will be a two-hour extension during finals week, specifically from December 8 to December 10; now, Colonels can enjoy a meal, refreshments, and an area to study until 5 p.m.
To sweeten studying further, students who show their Colonel Card will receive a 10% discount on their entire order. In addition, Wi-Fi is available with the purchase of any food or beverage.
Caffeinated beverages, such as their house-brewed coffee and café au lait, are available year-round, though customers can now choose from a variety of seasonal specials as well. These include the snickerdoodle latte (white chocolate, brown sugar, and cinnamon), the peppermint mocha (peppermint and chocolate), the snowman mocha (white chocolate and toasted marshmallow), and the cranberry chai.
Although it is a new tradition following The Willow’s recent ownership change, owner Natalie Benoit hopes to provide a sanctuary for stressed students by extending hours during future finals weeks.
“I remember it always being a struggle to find a place where I could sit down and focus on my studies. If I stayed home, I was always finding other things to do, putting off studying far too long,” Benoit said.
“ I found that being in a coffee shop’s environment really helped me stay focused—I’m excited to give that option to students who feel the same.”
Students can find The Willow Café at 713 West 3rd Street in Downtown Thibodaux. To view their menu, visit their website.
