Nicholls’ 24th Annual Seafood Extravaganza is set to take place Friday, April 24, from 5:30–11 p.m. in the Cotillion Ballroom as a major fundraiser supporting Colonel Athletics.
With the spring semester winding down, the long-standing Nicholls tradition returns to campus as far more than a simple meal. The evening serves as a critical fundraiser for the future of Colonel Athletics, with tickets currently available on the Colonel Athletic Association website.
Attendees can look forward to an all-you-can-eat experience featuring a vast selection of seafood such as crawfish, shrimp and crabs. In the past, this spread has been made possible by the Louisiana Seafood Promotion & Marketing Board. The night balances fine dining with generosity, offering live and silent auctions where guests can bid on unique sports memorabilia and exclusive “athletic experiences” with Nicholls coaches. These efforts directly support student-athlete scholarships, providing the necessary resources for Colonels to thrive academically and competitively.
The event is organized by the Colonel Athletic Association, the university’s primary fundraising body. Under the leadership of Director Shane Kliebert and the CAA Board of Directors, the association works alongside local sponsors and volunteers to manage the complex logistics required to transform the ballroom into an elevated venue.
The gathering typically draws a notable crowd, including athletic staff, with coaches from across all sports, who attend to engage with supporters. University leadership, such as President Jay Clune and other administrators, frequently appear to champion the athletic department. Community members also attend, usually consisting of a mix of local business owners, dedicated fans and alumni. Many of the attendees who make up the guest list have supported the event for over twenty years.
Whether you are interested in seeing the power of community investment or just want to experience a major campus highlight, the Seafood Extravaganza remains a defining moment of the Colonel spirit.
