Sudents at Nicholls State University may soon have a new coffee option near campus, as Starbucks prepares to open a location ahead of the Fall 2026 semester.
According to Jared David, the store will be built at the corner of Audubon and Afton drives, directly in front of Max Charter School, with South Babington closest to the side of the building. The opening is anticipated for early fall 2026, pending weather-related delays.
The addition is expected to offer greater convenience for students seeking quick study spots, meeting places and easy access to food and drinks near campus.
“I think it’s going to be a huge upgrade,” said sophomore Marcus Landry. “Right now, you have to go a little out of the way for coffee, so having one right by campus will save a lot of time.”
Other students say they are also anticipating the social benefits the new location could bring.
“Starbucks is more than just coffee, it’s a place where people hang out and study,” said junior Alana Joseph. “I can definitely see it becoming a go-to spot between classes.”
Students say the new location will not only add convenience but also provide a welcoming space for studying, socializing and building community just steps from campus.
