If you are looking for a good book to read over the summer – whether you like funny, romantic or dramatic novels – here are a few titles that I recommend to you.  The books range from old classics to current romance novels. There is at least one book listed for any type of reader.  A good book is worth reading a dozen times and never gets old.

Fifty Shades Trilogy: Fifty Shades of Gray, Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed  
By: E. L. James

These books are amazing and I read them very quickly. I need to warn you, though, that these books are very graphic, but the romance story is captivating. These books are NOT for children. Ana and Mr. Grey are characters of many talents and take romance to the next level. Ana, 21, is pushed into an interview for a newspaper with Christian Grey.  The flirtatious duo begins to see each other more and Grey presents Ana with a contract she cannot refuse.  Ana turns her entire life over to Grey.  
Book two, “Fifty Shades Darker,” takes a turn for the better and spices the mystery up a bit. Book three, “Fifty Shades Freed,” dives into the couple’s life together and the issues that come along with the lifestyle they have chosen to live together.
Overall the books are ideal for the romance/mystery reader. I suggest this as a must-read for the summer.

The Fault in Our Stars
By: John Green

This book features a sixteen-year-old young girl, Hazel, who has been battling cancer for years.  She meets Augustus, a young boy her age who has also battled illnesses. The two bond over a book that ends abruptly in the middle of a sentence.  The teens find themselves seeking more information from the author of the novel.
 It gives me a sense of hope, but I am a sucker for a heart-wrenching story.

The Great Gatsby
By: F. Scott Fitzgerald

This book, a staple in many high schools, and is set in the 1920s, when the book was first published. It highlights an American lifestyle of dancing and elaborate parties and this environment is what brings several different couples together.
The love story is genuine, but with the drama between the characters, it is hard to maintain the sincerity between them.
The movie adaptation of this class book is due out on Christmas Day and I recommend reading or rereading this before opening day.

Stephanie Plum Series
By: Janet Evanovich

This series is a must-read for anyone seeking comedy this summer.  Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter, a position that brings humorous activities and adventure.  It always seems that despite Plum’s lack of knowledge of the field of bond enforcement as well as her lack of strength to catch cold hard criminals, things always seem to fall into place with her and she gets her perp.  If you are a Nancy Drew fan this book might be right up your ally. The movie, One for the Money, released in January, is from the first book of the series. Katherine Heigl plays Stephanie Plum in the comedy.

The Perks of Being a Wallflower
By: Stephen Chbosky  

The story is about Charlie a socially awkward high school student whose only friend killed himself.  Charlie begins to write letters to an anonymous friend who he has never met. He is taken under the wing of a few seniors and from there the story explains his new journey.
This book takes you back to the days of adolescence and the awkwardness of that part of life.   The movie comes out this fall, so it may be a good idea to get this read in before it comes out.
