The Grid, the one-stop convenience shop located in the Donald G. Bollinger Memorial Student Union, will temporarily be closing earlier than usual this semester.
The store’s hours of operation this semester are Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., as opposed to previous semesters where it was open from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday through Thursday, and 7:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. on Friday.
Russell Barrios, General Manager of Nicholls Dining, said that the temporary change of hours are due to a staffing level issue.
“Enrollment is higher than it was in the previous four years, and we weren’t expecting that much of a jump, so we weren’t able to hire enough people quickly,” Barrios said. He also said that The Grid hours will eventually change “as soon as we are able to get the staffing level back where it needs to be.”
“At least 15 people are on the pipeline to be hired, so once they come on board, the hours will change,” Barrios said. He did not give a definitive date to when those hours could change.
