Students express goals though The Colonel List

Nicholls State University students have high hopes of achieving many school related goals, as well as life related goals, before walking across the stage.

The main idea behind this is to take a spin on the idea of a “bucket list.” For those who may not know, a bucket list consists of activities people would like to do before they die. In this instance, the “Colonel List” consists of goals and activities students would like to achieve before they graduate.

Some students would like to travel to get away from hassles at home and school studies. William Ellender, junior mass communication major from Houma, Louisiana, said he would like to travel across the entire country. He wants to travel to Europe, Canada, China, Japan and Asia. Micah Hebert, sophomore government major, said he would like to travel to Washington to climb Mountain Hood.

Other students want to enjoy making new friends while giving a helping hand wherever they can. Stephan Redmond, sophomore athletic training major, from Marrero, Louisiana, said he wants to make other people happy while he can. Shonte’ August, sophomore psychology major from St. Martinsville, Louisiana, said she wants to become a better person overall and give a helping hand to those in need.

While others are busy trying to become a better person some are focused on managing their grades. Isis Shanklin, freshman dietetics major from Morgan City, Louisiana, said she wants to pass all her classes this year. Eric Thibbs, freshman accounting major from New Roads, Louisiana, said he wants to graduate with a grade point average of a 3.0 or above. Kelsey Jordan, sophomore accounting major from St. Martinsville, Louisiana, said she wants to get a 4.0 grade point average at least once before she graduates.

A few students plan to shoot for the stars. Dana Brumfield, freshman psychology major from New Orleans, Louisiana, has high hopes to obtain her Ph.D. Treshawn Nunez, junior psychology major, hopes to run a successful organization.

Alvin Conley, sophomore mass communication major from Houma, Louisiana, wants to become an author.

Many students want to enjoy life and their college experience overall. Micah Hebert, sophomore government major, plans on writing for the Nicholls Worth one day. Alvin Conley, sophomore mass communication major from Houma, Louisiana, wants to raise his GPA so he can have a chance to join a fraternity. Ana Johnson, freshman business major from Morgan City, Louisiana, wants to take a road trip and go skydiving.

Students engaging in the Colonel List activities have a better sense of accomplishment after they have completed it.
