In the first elections since Donald Trump returned to power, voters rebuked republicans and delivered democrats sweeping victories in states like Virginia and New Jersey.
Virginia
In Virginia, voters flipped the governorship by electing former Congresswoman Abigail Spanberger defeating Lieutenant Governor Winsome Earle-Spears by nearly 15 percent.
This win led to the Lieutenant Governor and Attorney General race flipping as well. Spanberger will become the first female governor of the state.
New Jersey

In New Jersey, voters backed Congresswoman Mikie Sherrill for governor over 2021 nominee Jack Ciattarelli by a nearly 14 percent margin, far exceeding polls that showed the race closer.
The mayoral election in Jersey City went to a run-off after neither City Councilor James Solomon nor Former Governor Jim McGreevey could secure 50 percent of the vote.
New York

New York City elected State Assemblyman Zohran Mamdani for mayor defeating Former Governor Andrew Cuomo and 2021 nominee Curtis Sliwa.
The race was particularly interesting as it was a fight between the left and center wings of the Democratic Party. Mamdani will become the youngest mayor in over a century and the first Muslim mayor
