Thibodaux – Nicholls State University’s football will travel to Carbondale, Ill. to take on Southern Illinois University in the first round of the Football Championship Subdivision playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 25, at 2 p.m.
Nicholls clinched a playoff spot after beating Lamar University 37-20 to win the Southland Conference championship on Saturday, Nov. 11.
This is Nicholls’ first playoff appearance since 2019 when it lost at no. 1 seed North Dakota State University 13-37.
Head coach Tim Rebowe said the team is excited and ready for the playoff game at Southern Illinois.
“I know they’ve got a good ball club, they won a big-time game [on Saturday] to put them in convincingly, they beat Indiana State,” Rebowe said. “It’s exciting to go on the road and get to travel and [the players] are looking forward to it next weekend.”
ESPN+ will broadcast Saturday’s playoff matchup at 2 p.m.
