Malik Weber, a CIS junior and RA for Brady Hall from Lafayette, hosted a Madden tournament this past Thursday.

Weber had hosted a tournament last semester in Zeringue and decided to host another due to the popularity of the first. He said that the environment of the tournament is competitive and that everyone takes it seriously while still having fun.

As of writing this, 12 people are signed up for the tournament. Weber may be planning a 2K tournament, as well, in the near future.

Justin Line, a junior allied health major from Lafayette, said, “[Last year] there was a great turnout; it was fun and very competitive, with a good environment.”

Weber has some idea of what’s going to be played at the tournament this year.

“I expect a lot of people to use the Chiefs because of Patrick Mahomes and all of the new abilities in Madden 20. I expect the Saints to be played as well,” Weber said.

Weber said he plans to play if an odd number of players sign up, but to keep things fair, he won’t be able to win anything.

With prizes being provided by Nicholls Housing, the tournament winner will receive a $20 Raising Cane’s gift card, and the runner up gets a $10 Smoothie King gift card.

In order to secure a spot, students interested had to sign up by Wednesday.
