While attending to his education, Shane Smith, elementary education sophomore dedicates spare time to serving the campus.
Smith is involved in Nicholls’ Chi Alpha Christian Fellowship organization where he discusses God and prayer with students.
To show the current happenings of what the organization is doing for the campus, Chi Alpha set up a film production called Chi Alpha Rebel Films. Smith is an actor in the production.
In addition to spreading the word of God to the campus, Smith is also a resident assistant in Millet Hall.
“I have always felt the need to help people and the RA position was a great opportunity to serve the campus,” Smith said.
Smith goes on to say that this is his third semester as an RA.
When Smith finds the time, he enjoys hanging around campus and talking with people he does not know to experience different cultures.
Many people do not know that when Smith was accepted into Nicholls, he immediately changed his major from culinary to elementary education.
“I changed majors because education majors interact with a lot of kids and I love interacting with people,” Smith said.
Smith’s high school physics teacher inspired him to change majors by doing community service with helping younger students in school.
