Police Troop C revealed that
University Police sergeant Joseph
“Joey” Suitt, 30, had a .29 blood
alcohol level at the time of his
death on Feb. 5. A person can get
a DUI, driving under the infl uence,
with a blood alcohol level of .08.
Suitt drove into the brick wall
of the Archives and Historical
Research Center of the Diocese
of Houma-Thibodaux building on
campus.
The Lafourche Parish Coroner’s
Offi ce said that Suitt died from
injuries sustained in the motor vehicle
accident.
Suitt was suspected to be on his
way to work for an early morning
shift.
