Senior guard Deonna Brister scored 17 points in her final game as the Lumberjacks eliminated the Colonels from the Southland Conference Championship tournament.
Nicholls State University’s women’s basketball team lost to Stephen F. Austin 77-65 in the quarterfinals of the championship tournament on Tuesday.
The loss eliminates the Colonels from the tournament and post-season contention.
The Colonels played the Lumberjacks close through the final three quarters but could not overcome a seven-point first quarter deficit.
Colonels’ forward Elli Garnett earned player of the game honors despite the loss. Garnett scored 13 point, pulled in 12 rebounds and added an assist.
