A new practice facility is being constructed by the John Guidry Stadium. Replacing the old practice field will be the Coastal Center.
Danielle Breaux and Dr. John Doucet have been working with the Facilities Department and the College of Sciences and Technology since 2019 to bring about the Coastal Center.
According to Breaux, the Director of Facilities and Project Management, “[The Coastal Center] will have several exhibits in the building where you can go in and just find out as much information as possible on coastal erosion.”
She comments that the facility will be open to anyone–including students and faculty–and will provide resources to inform people about coastal restoration and what they can do in response to it.
The architect assigned to the project is from the Duplantis Design Group in Thibodaux, and the contractor is Ratcliff Construction in Alexandria. The project is expected to be completed by November 2024.
