Beau Faulk, senior third baseman from Houston, prepares to swing during Tuesday night’s game against South Alabama University at Ray E. Didier Field.

As the Nicholls baseball team’s season comes to an end, the seniors reflect on their time spent here.

Outfielder Michael LeGrange said that he believes that coming to Nicholls was the best decision he has made in his life thus far.

“My career here has been great. I’ve only been here for two years after coming from a junior college in Mississippi, and I’ve really enjoyed it,” LeGrange said. “The town is awesome, and I’ve made a lot of lifetime friends and memoires.”

Shortstop Austin Flores agreed that his time here at Nicholls has been an overall great experience.

“My career at Nicholls has been really fun,” Flores said. “I’ve made a lot of good friends and memories while playing baseball here over these last two years. It’s just been an awesome experience.”

First baseman Beau Faulk has been a part of the Nicholls baseball program for five years and has made many fond memories.

“It’s been a lot of fun, and I’ve made a lot of great friends,” Faulk said. “I’ve grown both as a baseball player and as a person.”

Many of the seniors said that they believe that their most memorable moment here was sweeping McNeese in their final game of regular season and going on to the conference tournament where they defeated No. 1 seed Texas State.

“My most memorable moment would have to be dog piling with the team after [outfielder] Jeremy Hill hit the walk-off against McNeese and got us into the playoffs,” LeGrange said.

Faulk agreed that making it to the conference tournament last season is a memory that he will never forget.

“It was the first time we made it to the tournament, and we came out and run-ruled them. It was probably one of our best games.”

Baseball has played such a vital role in many of these seniors’ lives. After Nicholls, many plan to continue playing baseball, whether that means getting drafted or coaching.

Although pitcher Brad Delatte is not exactly sure what he plans to do following graduation, he knows he wants baseball to remain a part of his life.

“I wish I knew what my plans were after graduation,” Delatte said. “I’m really hoping the draft works out. I mean, every ball player wants to make it to the next level, but if not, I’ll probably end up coaching high school ball.”

Hill also hopes to continue with his baseball career.

“I plan to continue to play ball if I get the opportunity, but if not, find a steady job so I can support me and my family,” Hill said.
