Danny Joubert, general studies senior with an associate’s degree in safety technology, works as a park ranger in the maintenance division at Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Preserve here in Thibodaux during the summer.
“Most of the time, my job consists of mowing the lawn and weed eating around the perimeter of the building,” Joubert said. “I also do a lot of work with the electrical fixtures here, and anytime a handyman is needed for an odd job, I take care of it.”
When he is not working, Joubert enjoys staying active by exercising, and he also enjoys hanging out with friends in his fraternity, Kappa Sigma.
The Jean Lafitte National Historic Park and Reserve strives to preserve the culture and the people here in the wetlands of South Louisiana. Joubert agrees that it is important to preserve the heritage of the region because for many people living here, the tradition and history runs in their blood.
“People need to remember where they come from,” Joubert said.
