Nicholls State University, in partnership with the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute and local wine bar and bistro Cuvée, is hosting its annual Bon Vin wine tasting on Oct. 27, 2025.
While previously held off-campus, this year’s event will be hosted in Nicholls’ newly constructed Coastal Center—one of the first organized events to take place within the building—with times varying depending on the type of ticket purchased.
Tickets can be purchased on an individual basis or in packages aimed at organizations looking to aid in sponsoring the event.
Individual tickets consist of Premier Cru tickets, which are $75 per guest, and include access to the event’s wine and food tasting. This ticket guarantees access to the main tasting from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Grand Cru tickets are available as well, encompassing all the perks of Premier Cru tickets with the addition of an hour-long sommelier-hosted pre-event.
All proceeds of the event, from ticket sales to wine purchases made through Cuvée, benefit a Nicholls general scholarship fund.
Scholarships offered through Nicholls are primarily considered “endowed,” meaning that they are funded by the investments earned from one donation made to the university.
These scholarships are perpetual, though only available to those students who fit the specific guidelines set by the donor. Bon Vin, however, attempts to garner money for a general scholarship fund requiring annual renewal.
“[Nicholls has] endowed scholarships, but those awards are directed by the donors, giving the university limited flexibility on how those funds can be used,” stated Ray Peters, Nicholls Assistant Vice President for Advancement, in the event’s 2023 announcement. “Money raised by Bon Vin will be invested by the Nicholls Foundation, with the interest used to fund general scholarships.”
The event is open to those who wish to support Nicholls’ pursuit of providing additional financial aid for students. With catering from the Chef John Folse Culinary Institute and wine selections from Cuvée, with Dr. Jody Plaisance acting as the sommelier, the event goes beyond an evening spent enjoying local wine and food—it serves to benefit the community and promote the pursuit of higher education.
“It’s a chance for the community and Nicholls supporters to make a real impact on student success,” states Lacey Hoffpauir, Nicholls’ Chief Innovation Officer in Bon Vin’s 2025 announcement. “Come ready to sip, savor and shop for a cause because your perfect pour could be the key to shaping the future of Nicholls.”
