Spooky season has arrived, and The Nicholls Worth staff is trading headlines for horror marathons, candy and a few creative scares. Here’s how the newsroom plans to celebrate Halloween.
Abigail Gauthier | Editor-in-Chief

While many are partygoing, Gauthier’s keeping things cozy — and permanent.
She’s getting Halloween tattoos with her friends before heading home to indulge in handfuls of candy. Her ideal Halloween destination? The eerie streets of Salem, of course.
And like her favorite candy, Reese’s Cups, her writing has that perfect mix of sweetness and depth — chocolate on the outside, substance within.
Ethan Romaire | Sports Writer

Romaire’s Halloween plans include cheering at the Pirogue Race and tagging along for some family trick-or-treating.
After rocking Mario last year, he’s leaning toward a scarier twist — Art the Clown. His go-to film is Beetlejuice, for the perfect blend of creepy and comedic.
His candy counterpart? Reese’s, again — sweet at first, but layered and rich once you dig in.
Julianne Neigel | Staff Writer

Neigel’s idea of Halloween bliss? Dinner out followed by a horror movie marathon (complete with dollar-store candy and a Sharpie-drawn cat nose).
Hereditary tops her list this year, but comfort is the real goal — couch, bed, beanbag, you name it. She calls her writing “popcorn ball”-style: corny, catchy, and impossible to forget.
Oh, and if she could interview anyone?
A witch, naturally — preferably one with recipes straight from a bubbling cauldron.
Grayson Rogers | Staff Writer

Grayson’s keeping Halloween classic with a party, and maybe a bit of last-minute costume panic.
He says his writing’s like all his favorite chocolaty treats — versatile and full of variety.
His dream interviewee is Dracula, the ultimate cool and mysterious monster.
Robert Lockett Jr. | Sports Writer

Lockett’s heading to an off-campus Halloween party and, as usual, is winging his costume.
His favorite movie is Halloweentown, and he says his writing style is “sweet, of course.”
He’d love to interview Frankenstein, who he believes isn’t evil by nature but misunderstood — a story any journalist could appreciate.
Lily Benoit | Media Manager

Benoit’s keeping it low-key this Halloween with a cozy movie night in — though she wouldn’t mind swapping scenes for a French cottage getaway (if someone else picks up the tab).
She describes her writing as a Reese’s blend of sweet and smooth, and her dream interviewee?
The Voodoo Man from The Princess and the Frog — talk about New Orleans magic.
Daniel Roy | Sports Writer

Roy’s plans are simple: party time.
He wears his costume every year and skips the scary stuff. His Halloween tradition includes trunk-or-treating, and his writing style matches a Snickers bar: smooth, rich, and just a little nutty.
His dream interview? Dracula, because, really, who wouldn’t want to dig into that story?
Julianna Parker | Staff Writer

As for me, this Halloween I’ll probably stay in for a movie marathon — a mix of spooky classics and a few Christmas flicks— in my favorite mummy-themed pajamas.
If I could interview one infamous Halloween monster, it would have to be the Other Mother from Coraline. She’s creepy in the best way. I just hope I’d make it out without buttons for eyes.
In the meantime, I’ll keep reporting and writing in a way that I hope reminds readers of my favorite candy: a Twix bar. Layered, balanced, and filled with delicious surprises.
Have a happy, safe and spooky Halloween!
Sincerely,
The Nicholls Worth
