Local band Archona joined KNSU Radio last week to showcase their music and share the origin story of their band.
Kaleb Harman, KNSU DJ, interviewed the four-piece band after they performed a set within the studio.
The band–made up of John, Gavin, Ross and Jerrian–draws its name from a combination of the words “archetype” and “persona.” The blend was also inspired by the word “archon,” a Greek word for leader.
They hold their energetic sound to a high standard and desire their music to be “something you could mosh to.” Archona’s writing process tends to be organic, beginning with an ear-catching riff that develops into a song they all can rock out to.
What started as a childhood friendship between a duo, Gavin and Ross, became a fully fledged band during college.
The pair discovered John as he airdrummed nearby at a concert featuring Voice of the Enemy and Swamp Stank. Gavin contacted him the next day to kickstart the band. Soon after, Jerrian joined, completing the lineup.
From then on, the band quickly began writing and producing music, sometimes developing up to five songs at a time.
Fans can stream their music through Spotify, YouTube and Facebook.
