THIBODAUX, La.—The Nicholls State University Athletics Department and Vice President of Collegiate Athletics & Athletic Director Jonathan Terrell announced Thursday afternoon the extension of men’s head basketball coach Tevon Saddler’s contract through 2030.
Terrell spoke about Saddler and the “tremendous energy, leadership, and vision” he has brought to the program. The culture change has been evident in Saddler’s first two seasons as the Colonels’ head coach.
“To have my contract extended is a tremendous honor, and I am excited to keep building on our momentum,” Saddler told Nicholls Athletics. “This extension reflects the commitment this university has to our student-athletes and to building a championship program.”
Saddler has led the team to back-to-back 20-win seasons for the first time in school history and a 26-12 record in Southland Conference play.
The winning has extended beyond the regular season with the Colonels making the Southland Tournament as a 3-seed in back-to-back years and reaching the Southland Championship in 2023.
Saddler expressed how “incredibly grateful” he was to Terrell and Nicholls President Dr. Jay Clune for the extension and their belief in his vision for the program. Coach Saddler and his squad look to carry their momentum into the new season when they host Incarnate Word on Dec. 6.
