THIBODAUX, La. — Julianne Neigel is a sophomore at Nicholls, majoring in culinary arts and minoring in mass communications. She plans to bring a whole new level of flavor to The Nicholls Worth this fall.
As a Staff Writer, Neigel plans to weave her passions together, writing and culinary arts.
“Both writing and cooking are labors of love given that they stem from a certain desire to create,” Neigel said. “While they can both be incredibly stressful at points, there is always something to show and share at the end of both.”
Neigel shared that breaking out of one’s shell is far easier said than done, but the outcome is worth the discomfort. She encourages her peers to try new things, and she leads by example. In the fifth grade, Neigel decided to try her hand at music and quickly developed a love for it and the community it fosters.
“While I don’t currently play any instruments, my time doing so instilled a deep passion for music and performance within me,” Neigel said. “It fostered an appreciation for the sense of community that music brings.”
Through writing topical articles and dedicating herself to research, Neigel plans to widen The Nicholls Worth’s coverage on campus and within the community. She already has a long list of flavorful subjects she’s begun to investigate.
Ranging from food reviews, restaurant grand openings and experiments within the kitchen, Niegel is prepared to make campus all the more savory.
