Nicholls Softball began its Texas road trip with a 10-3 loss to no. 1 Texas on Thursday.
The Longhorns scored seven of their 10 runs in the first inning but were held to three runs in the last six innings.
The Colonels matched The Longhorns’ run total in those six innings with three of their own.
Nicholls had a productive fourth inning, scoring two runs.
First baseman Alexa Poche’ found herself involved in both scoring plays in the inning hitting an RBI for the first run and scoring the second run after a wild pitch.
Texas responded with an RBI double in the bottom half of the inning.
Nicholls scored its final run in the fifth inning on a sacrifice fly off the bat of Reagan Heflin that drove in Samantha Gwiazada.
Texas scored on RBIs in the fifth and sixth innings to close the scoring.
Abby Andersen led the Colonels in hitting with two and two Colonels recorded an RBI and a run(Poche’ and Heflin.)

The Colonels head to San Antonio to face UIW in a conference series on Friday and Saturday.
The Colonels begin the series with a doubleheader on Friday, starting at 3 p.m.
Game two will begin 30 minutes after the conclusion of game one.
The series concludes with game three at noon on Saturday.
