Nicholls State University fell 35-0 to Southern Illinois University on round one of the Football Championship Subdivision Playoffs on Saturday, Nov. 25.
Nicholls was eliminated from the playoffs after the first round loss.
Nicholls forced Southern Illinois into a third down on its first set of downs, but Southern Illinois converted the third down and drive down the field for a rushing touchdown.
Quarterback Pat McQuaide threw an interception on the following Nicholls drive that resulted in second SIU touchdown.
Nicholls held SIU without points on its last three drives of the first half after an early second quarter SIU touchdown.
Nicholls had an opportunity to score inside the last minute of the half, but a Fourth-and-Goal attempt from the 2-yard line fell short.
SIU scored two third quarter touchdowns to cap off the scoring.
Running backs Jaylon Spears and Collin Guggenheim were each held under 50 yards rushing in the loss.
Senior receiver David Robinson Jr. led Nicholls in scrimmage yards with 65 receiving yards on 5 receptions.
