The Nicholls State University football team found its name on Monday morning’s FCS Coaches Poll.
Nicholls was listed in the “Others Receiving Votes” section as the last team mentioned and as one of only three teams to receive a singular vote. https://www.ncaa.com/rankings/football/fcs/fcs-coaches-poll
Nicholls received the vote after defeating Texas A&M University-Commerce 27-7 on Saturday.
The win over A&M-Commerce was Nicholls’ third win of the season and third in Southland Conference play after defeating McNeese State University 31-10 on Sept. 30, and Houston Christian University 38-7 in the Colonels’ homecoming matchup on Oct. 7.
UIW is the only other Southland Conference team in the FCS Coaches Poll, ranked as the no. 4 team in the FCS.
Nicholls plays no. 4 UIW in two weeks on Saturday, Nov. 4 in San Antonio.
Nicholls’ next game is a home game against Southeast Missouri State University on Oct. 28 at 3 p.m.
