Take off the masks, colonels, and smile big! Nicholls state communications office released an emailed stating that as of Wednesday, Feb. 23, the masking mandate for inside of doors would not longer be in effect.

This decision came from two basic ideas. First, the number of positive cases on campus has decreased by over 80 percent since the peak in mid-January. Second, the 7-day average positivity rate in Lafourche Parish is down by 48 percent.

Communications Director Jared David explained that the lifting of the mandate meant students not longer had to wear masks inside,  but they should be mindful of personal space and boundaries in order to prevent an uprise.

Masks can still be worn by any who feel safer with them.
