The men of Sigma Alpha Epsilon are set to host their second annual Golf and Chili Bash on Sunday, Oct. 20.

The event will kick off with a golf tournament held at the Thibodaux Bayou Country Club from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Later in the afternoon, a chili cook-off is set for 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the John L. Guidry Stadium west breezeway on Nicholls State University campus.

This is a philanthropic event, and all proceeds will benefit Upside Downs of Thibodaux, a nonprofit organization that both assists and raises the awareness of the Down Syndrome community.

Prior to last year’s event, SAE held an annual Chili Bowl, which was strictly a chili cook-off.

2018 saw the inclusion of a golf tournament, and much more money was raised as a result—about $17,000 to be exact. Sticking with the golf tournament, in addition to the chili cook-off, was a no-brainer, they said. It was the great success of the first annual Golf and Chili Bash event that drove them to hold this year’s event.

There will be a table set up in front of the Bollinger Student Union on Oct. 16 and 17 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. where members of SAE will be selling tickets and giving out information on the event.

The boys of SAE say this year’s Golf and Chili Bash is sure to be a fun event for a good cause.
