Did someone say “free stuff?”

Each semester seems to move faster and faster. The busier we get, the more things tend to be overlooked. No, not every event on campus can be attended due to our busy schedules, but finding out there were free nachos in the Quad, yet you ate half a granola bar for lunch, is the worst.

In order to avoid these depressing mishaps, be on the lookout for the many giveaways provided by the Student Union, Student Programming Association and other organizations on campus.

Whether you are new to campus or a returning pro desperately trying to finish up that degree, there are easy ways to keep up with all events at Nicholls. When actually read, the “Inside Nicholls” emails are a great way to get updates for the week. Yes, we may get bombarded daily with bookstore sales and homework deadlines, but this is no excuse when free stuff is at stake. Various Nicholls pages on social media are always attempting to get student attendance at different events. Following them might make the difference in whether or not you get that last free t-shirt.

NIcholls has a lot to offer, and we should be proud to be Colonels. So, why pass up an opportunity to get free stuff with “Geaux Colonels” plastered across it? Why not take advantage of everything that is being offered? Just this week, be on the lookout for free food, grocery and clothes giveaways.

Running from class to class can be very chaotic, but always check for giveaways in the Quad.  Free Italian ice will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday in the Quad, provided by Student Union Staff and SPA members.

Tuesday night, don’t miss the chance to yell out “Bingo!” as other students boo your success. Grocery Store Bingo is scheduled to be held at 7 p.m in Peltier Auditorium. There will be 20 games, with the chance to win groceries, earbuds, backpacks and the grand prize of a bike.

Yes, homework will be piling up soon and time becomes more and more sparse, but there is always time for a quick stop at the Student Union. We all just need a hug sometimes, and by hugging the coke machine outside the Student Union from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Wednesday, you get a free coke.

If you don’t have enough red in your wardrobe for Red-Out Fridays, be sure to follow SPA on social media @spa_nicholls to learn where to pick up a free red tank top from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday.

This week is only the beginning of a spirit-filled semester.
