With the semester coming to an end, many graduating seniors are looking to enter the work force, and many are using the Internet.There are now 30 links on the Nicholls Career Services Center Web page to help students find jobs. Many of these links consist of posting a rsum online for different businesses to look at.

“Putting your rsum online is the best way to get yourself out there,” Kristie Tauzin, director of Career Services, said.

According to Tauzin, the departments and professors are preparing students appropriately for the work force. She believes that the students are prepared to encounter all situations and are able to become productive citizens in our community.

“I have not spoken to anyone who has been having trouble finding a job,” Tauzin said. “Many students know where to look to find a job.”

Students who have loans should not be worried about how they will pay them back because students have a while to pay them back, according to Tauzin. The best way to look for a job is to find one that makes you happy.

“I am having problems finding a job as a legal assistant because many law firms want experienced legal assistants,” Janee Dover, legal assistant studies senior from Houma, said.

Students should not be turning down job offers. Students are encouraged to do internships and volunteer work while still in school to see if that is the field for them. Students should take advantage of every opportunity given to them, according to Tauzin.

In this area, people hear about jobs through word-of-mouth. Students should attend the career fair at Nicholls to meet people to help them find jobs.

“Students should work just as hard to get the jobs they want as they did for the grades they want,” Tauzin said. “Students should be proving themselves to different companies in order to show them that they have what they are looking for.
