Jones named Dean of Education

Congratulations to Dr. Leslie Jones, professor and associate dean of Education, who was officially named dean, pending approval of the University of Louisiana System Board of Supervisors. Jones is an alumnus of Nicholls and LSU.

Women’s Night Out to be held May 3

The Nicholls State University Foundation will host the 13th annual Women’s Night Out to benefit women’s athletics at the University on May 3 at Cypress Columns in Gray. The event, themed Margaritaville, will include a four-course dinner, live and silent auctions and a night of entertainment and fun. Hor d’oeuvres and drinks will be served at 6:30 p.m., with dinner to follow at 7:15 p.m. Tickets are $100 per person and reservations can be made by calling the foundation at (985)448-4005 or (985)448-4134.

Bonnaroo Tickets to be given away

Tune into 91. 5 FM KNSU on April 21 to win one pair of guest passes to Bonnaroo Music Festival, a four-day music festival held June 7 through 10 in Manchester, Tennessee. Listeners must email a list of every song played from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to [email protected], and the first person to email with the correct list will win. Emails should also include your full name and a phone number to be reached at. The winner will also receive four nights of camping accommodations at the festival, access to premium seating and view areas at each stage, and special access to the guest lounge and restaurant.

Nocturne to raise money for music scholarships

The Department of Music faculty will present the sixth annual Nocturne, a recital to support music scholarships, on May 4 in Danos Theater. The evening will begin with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m., the recital will begin at 7:30 p.m., and a coffee and dessert reception will be held immediately after the recital. Individual tickets are $50 each and guests should RSVP no later than April 20 by calling (985) 448-4600.

Zumbathon to be held next week

The Human Performance of Education Club will hold Zumbathon on April 25 from noon-1 p.m.in Stopher Gym. The event is $2 for students who pre-pay and $3 on the day of the event and $4 for faculty and staff who pre-pay and $5 on the day of the event.
