Forty students were named to the 2010 edition of “Who’s Who Among American Universities and Colleges.”

Forty students will represent Nicholls in the 2010 edition of “Who’s Who Among Students in American Universities and Colleges.” The junior and senior honorees were chosen as national student leaders by a campus nominating committee and editors of the nationwide annual directory. Each university is allowed to select up to 1 percent of its students for inclusion into “Who’s Who.”

“Nicholls is quite proud of these outstanding students,” Eugene Dial, vice president for student affairs, said. “We thank and congratulate the honorees for their contributions to the campus and their communities.”

Brittany Taraba, marketing senior from Monroe, said being selected was an honor.

“The school can only nominate up to 1 percent of the students,” Taraba said. “It’s a big deal to be nominated, much less get it.”

Cody Blanchard, marketing senior from Pierre Part, said being named to “Who’s Who” will help him in the future job market.

“”It takes a lot of time and effort to be named because it’s based on a point system,” Blanchard said. “It will be great to put on my resume and to help me set myself apart in the job market, and it’s good to know all that hard work will pay off in the future.”

The students named this year include: Natalie Brown and Alyssa Daigle from Baton Rouge; Thomas Nickell from Belle Rose; Samantha Chaisson from Bourg; Blaine Adams, Jesse Gautreaux and Holden Ledet from Cut Off; Philip Dupre from Donaldsonville; Chelsey Adams from Gulf Breeze, Fla.; Tyler Koster, Hannah Pitre, Jennifer Smith and Jacey Tanner from Houma; Cindy Soto from Independence, Mo.; Whitney Leonard from Larose; Kal Savoie from Lockport; Lindsey Schaeffer from Marrero; Brittany Taraba from Monroe; Stephanie Graebert from Norco; Cody Blanchard and David Dugas from Pierre Part; Gaetano Ruggiero from Plaquemine; Louis Raiford from Ponchatoula; Lindsey Matherne from Raceland; Richard Abarr from Talisheek; Cherie Boudreaux, Lawrence Briggs, Seth Candies, Ryan Donegan, Whitney Dupuy, William Heck, Margaret Jones, Lee LeBouef, Christopher Riviere, Anna Rodrigue, Kourtney Rodrigue, Rhea Vidrine and Nicholas Walker from Thibodaux; Stefan Wright from Willis, Texas; and Miriam Davis from Youngsville.
