By University Relations Lady Colonel Basketball Coach Louise “Do” Bonin will teach girls how to improve their basketball skills at two basketball camps in June at Nicholls.
Lady Colonel Basketball Position Camp will be held from Friday, June 8 through Sunday, June 10 at Stopher Gymnasium.
The camp is open to girls in grades seven through 12 who have some previous basketball experience and want to take their ability to the next level.
The camp will teach team concepts and strategies while improving individual skills. Instruction will include emphasis by position on basic fundamentals: getting open, offensive moves, feeding the post, transition offense, shooting drills, position defense, team defense, 4-on-4 league games, zone principles and 5-on-5 league games.
Participants can register for the overnight camp or as a commuter. The registration fee for the overnight camp is $170 before Tuesday, May 1 and $180 thereafter, which includes all meals, housing, instruction, a camp ball and a T-shirt.
The registration fee for a commuter is $125 before May 1 and $135 thereafter, which includes instructions, a camp ball and a T-shirt.
Lady Colonel Basketball Day Camp for girls in grades two through eight of all skill levels will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Friday, June 15 through Sunday, June 17 at Stopher Gymnasium.
This new camp will feature both players and coaches from the
Lady Colonel Basketball team. Girls will learn different drills to help develop and improve their shooting, passing and defense.
Each player will receive a T-shirt and a camp basketball. The registration fee is $50 before May 1 and $60 thereafter.
