Web site eases voting for out of state students

To help college students take part in the election process while they are in college, the Lafourche Parish Registrar of Voters Office has launched a new Web site called “College Connection.” The “College Connection” is where students can link to all fifty states’ Secretary of State Web sites in order to access absentee ballots used to vote in their home state by mail.

The goal of the program and Web site is to inform voters about election issues, election days, registering people to vote and helping people with access to voting.

This new Web site is part of a Voter Outreach Program that the Register of Voters’ Office has developed to keep the voting public aware of registration and election issues, Tammy Thibodaux-Orgeron, deputy register of voters, said.

The program is in the process of doing voter registration drives with different organizations across Lafourche Parish, Thibodaux-Orgeron said.

The Web address is http://lafourcheregistrarofvoters.org/collegeconnection.aspx. This site will allow student more access to vote at home while in college.
