Student government welcomes newly elected freshmen

Newly elected Student Government Association freshman and University College senators share a common goal in wanting to become involved in University activities and the student body.Freshman senator Precious Harris, from Baldwin, said she chose to get involved with SGA because it seemed to be the perfect opportunity for her to broaden her leadership potential.

“My expectations for being a freshman senator are to hopefully reveal some new interests of mine, to attend some intense settings, and to participate in many difficult decision making processes.”

Freshman senator Ashli Prosperie, from Houma, said she wants to be a part of making the University a better place.

“I chose to get involved with SGA because I have always held a leadership position in the past,” Prosperie said. “I also love being a part of an organization that is drawn towards bettering Nicholls and its students.”

University College senator Brittany Menzer, from Thibodaux, said she wanted to get involved with SGA because she likes being engaged in University happenings.

“I like knowing what goes on in school firsthand, and if I can make a difference in school, I want to take it.”

University College senator Elizabeth Bergeron, from Berwick, said she wants to do her part in representing the student body.

“I hope to become more familiar with the processes and systems involved with student government and to do my part in insuring my peers are represented by an individual who cares about their opinions, concerns and wellbeing.”

University College senator Brady Chiasson, from Thibodaux, said he wanted to be part of an outlet for students to get involved with the decision making processes on campus and is going to work to help alleviate any concerns students have about things going on at the University.

“I am personally excited to be surrounded with a great group of students that want to change their college experience for the better,” Chiasson said.
