staffer enjoys new Thibodaux sports bar

Ever wonder where the best place to watch that beloved sporting event in Thibodaux is? Well, you no longer have to ask because Thibodaux officially has a sports grill and bar to call its own. Rock-n-Robin Grill and Daiquiri opened its doors to the public on Nov. 1, and it has had a loyal following since.
What the outside of the building lacks in color and invitation, the inside truly makes up for with eye appeal and comfort. There is a juke box to provide music if the sound system is not pumping out the tunes. “Music variety is one thing I want to focus on. Someone can walk in here and hear a variety of music styles, whether it’s country, oldies or top forty,” Wayne Delise, owner and operator, said.
Rock-n-Robin, or RNR as I like to call it, is the sports fanatic’s dream. The interior has eight television sets with at least one in view from everywhere within the establishment. Besides the televisions, RNR offers three pool tables, two magna-touch screens and a Golden Golf game system to entertain its customers. Also, video poker is on its way. Plus, Delise has plans to hold Playstation tournaments and is trying to bring in a card table for those interested in playing poker, blackjack or any other game of choice. The inside though is not lined with the typical jerseys everywhere, and it does not have the guy-only atmosphere. This is a place for anybody who wants to be with friends or watch the game with others. Ladies, feel free to tag along or meet a group of your friends there also.
Being a sports bar, the establishment has four daiquiri machines and a stocked alcohol selection. However, the food, from what I hear, is one of the main reasons for going. Rock-n-Robin serves plate lunches Monday through Friday and has a full menu selection of burgers, poboys and platters. Yes, they even have salads for those who are interested. The kitchen is open from 11:00 a.m. to about 8:30 p.m. but will stay open until 1:30 a.m. as long as the demand is there. Most items are within the $6 range and all prices include tax.
With tables and enough bar stools for 80 people, bring your friends and join everybody for the Saints games or Monday Night Football. Why then? Simply put, 50 cents hot dogs and drink specials that last all day long. If you can’t make it then, Happy Hour is offered daily from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.
If you are wondering where this little taste of heaven is located, you can find it at 804 St. Mary St., two doors down from Frostop. The building is white with a red roof but is pretty easy to pass up. Being only a couple of blocks from downtown, it is not much farther to travel. Once you find this place, leave the children at home because this is not a place to bring the family. Guests must be at least 18 to enter and 21 to drink.
If I had to describe Rock-n-Robin, I think the best way to put it is: a place with a good atmosphere and great food, where you can watch the game or event, shoot pool, have a couple of drinks and most importantly of all have a good time.
