Colonel fans now have access to numerous features on a new Web site for Nicholls Athletics. The Athletics Department, under contract with College Sports Television, launched the Web site http://geauxcolonels.cstv.com Aug. 15. CSTV is the major host for college sports Web sites nationally.
Athletics Director Rob Bernardi said image and professionalism is imperative in the portrayal of Nicholls Athletics.
“One of the things that I preached since my arrival at Nicholls is our image and how we project ourselves,” Bernardi said. “Even around Barker Hall, we are repainting and landscaping; it is just very important that we cast a positive image.”
One of the most important features of the sports Web site is its Gametracker feature, which allows students and fans to view live scores and receive up-to-the-minute information pertaining to certain sports. Gametracker displays live feed scoreboards for all Nicholls sports. In the future, the Web site will even feature a live feed service where fans will be able to view some sporting events live.
Along with the Gametracker feature Web site, users will also notice the improvements made in its organization. The features to research teams are made more available and organized for users. The headlines, schedules and rosters are laid out clearly, and the Web site also offers a search feature where users can search for players or press releases.
Nicholls is sixth out of 12 Southland Conference schools to enter a contract with CSTV. In addition to Nicholls, Lamar University, McNeese State University, Stephen F. Austin State University, University of Texas at Arlington and Texas State University at San Marcos have all entered into a contract with CSTV.
