Homecoming Week agenda: A short but spirited celebration

Nicholls State University is gearing up for a spirited but shortened Homecoming Week filled with tradition, campus pride and student activities leading up to Saturday’s big game and crowning of the Homecoming King and Queen.

Although this year’s schedule is condensed due to the fall break, students still have plenty of opportunities to celebrate Colonel Nation.

Wednesday, Oct. 29

SPA Homecoming Week Breakfast

Time: 8 a.m.
Location: Dining Hall

The Student Programming Association will kick off Homecoming Week by serving a campus-wide breakfast to get students energized for the festivities ahead.

Silent Disco

Time: 8:30–10:30 p.m.
Location: Shaver Gym

Grab a pair of headphones and dance the night away as three DJs spin live tracks in a lights-out music experience. Students can switch between music channels and vibe with friends in a unique, glow-filled environment.

Thursday, October 30

Alive@5

Time: 5–9 p.m.
Location: Recreation Center Parking Lot

A Nicholls Homecoming tradition returns! Alive@5 will feature music from a live DJ, food giveaways, and performances to keep the energy high. The Homecoming Court will also be presented, and the Pride of Nicholls marching band will perform as students come together to celebrate Colonel spirit.

Friday, October 31

Pirogue Races

Time: TBA
Location: Campus Waterway

Teams will hit the water in one of Nicholls’ most beloved traditions—the annual Pirogue Boat Races. Students can form teams and compete for bragging rights in this friendly race. The link to register can be found in SPA’s Instagram bio.

Saturday, November 1 – Homecoming Day

Tailgating & Game Day Celebration

SPA will host a student tailgate in the student tailgate area to get fans pumped for the Homecoming Game.

The highlight of the night will be the announcement of the 2024 Homecoming King and Queen during halftime. Students, alumni and fans are encouraged to wear red and show their Colonel pride.
