The TikTok account holder of “NSU Nightly Litter Patrol”, an anonymous campus vigilante of cleanliness, said he hopes to gather volunteers for the cause.

The anonymous account holder, who has requested to be called Jim, began his mission on Sept. 11 amid a week of unfortunate events.

One day prior, the alleged account holder of the TikTok “Nicholls Pisser” was arrested for terrorizing. 

“I saw someone doing something bad,” Jim said. “I decided to do something good instead.”

Jim posted his first video, aiming to keep his identity hidden while growing his platform. Soon after starting his nightly rounds, students on campus began asking to volunteer with him.

“I don’t know if they want to remain anonymous,” Jim said. “But anyone interested in volunteering can direct message me or comment on my posts.”

He encourages fellow students to do good acts in secret, saying the NSU Nightly Litter Patrol’s motto is to “clean litter, stay hidden.”

Because of the amount of daily litter on campus, the mission may never end.

“I find a lot of wrappers and straw papers,” Jim said. “The area by the football stadium has the most litter, but the dorms have a lot too.”

Still, Jim is not alone in the cause. Keep Nicholls Beautiful caught wind of Jim’s nightly rounds and donated a trash grabber to aid his efforts.

“They notified me that they were going to place it in front of the rec [Harold J. Callais Recreation Center] after closing time,” Jim said. “They also share my posts to their stories sometimes.”

Jim said that while one person can make a difference, having volunteers will further the goal of keeping Nicholls’ grounds clean.
