Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce announced their engagement through a joint social media post on Tuesday, captioned, “Your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married 🧨”.
Entities on campus responded with memes.
Nicholls Graduate Studies and Nicholls Admissions created their own joint post on social media featuring a PNG of the happy couple with the historic Elkins Hall in the background.
“Every next chapter begins with a choice.
‘I was accepted into grad school.’
‘Where?’
‘Nicholls.’
Your future. Your story. Your university. ❤️
Apply today,” the caption read.

Grant Ordoyne, Nicholls’ coordinator of graduate studies, shared the post and added his own caption.
“‘But on a Wednesday, in a café, I watched it begin again.’
Begin your next chapter with Nicholls State University Graduate Studies!”
Ironically, The Brew—a beloved cafe within Ellender Memorial Library—put its own spin on the trend Wednesday.
An iced coffee and pastry replaced Swift and Kelce in their ethereal proposal image. The Brew announced its “Happily Ever After Hour” through Nicholls Dining’s social media.
“It’s a Love Story, but with coffee & pastries. 💞
Now through Friday, September 5th, when you say ‘I do’ to any 20-oz beverage at The Brew from 12:30 p.m. – 1:30 p.m., we’ll treat you to a free bakery item. ☕️🥐”
From The Brew to admissions and even graduate studies—each of these playful nods towards Swift’s engagement highlights how the university embraces shared cultural moments to connect with students beyond the classroom.
