Take it from a senior…
Chaos happens to all of us. You forgot to apply your parking pass to your vehicle. Maybe you left your charger in your dorm, and your phone battery is nearing zero as your second class is drawing to a close.
Chaos happens.
Here are some practical tips to minimize the chaos and optimize your semester for the best possible experience.
Tackle practical tasks.
You’ve already moved in, hopefully retrieved your parking pass and have adapted to your class schedule. There are still some technical objectives to consider. One of which is obtaining your Colonel Book Bundle. For many literary majors, the book bundle can be a lifesaver. Be sure to pick up your books at the bookstore located inside the Student Union.
Attend Your Classes.
Maybe you don’t risk missing a single class time right now. You’re adjusting to the teacher, your classmates and the course content. There may come a time when you begin feeling the temptation to miss class. Little by little, your attendance may decrease, and your grade will likely fall with it.
I implore you to press on and continue to attend. Participating daily showcases your dedication to your degree and accumulation of knowledge. There is value in every lesson and discussion held inside of your classrooms.
Before you know it, your four years will be over. You will have graduated and may seek out new learning opportunities. By then, they may be harder to find. That being said, I will leave you with this advice–aim not to take for granted these years of ample opportunity for growth.
Have Fun!
Nicholls has many experiences to offer, ranging from “Silent Disco” in the Cotillion Ballroom to “Paint & Sip Vision Board” night with Alpha Psi Lambda in the Student Union room four. Not to mention the Smoothie King grand opening in the Union next week on Thursday! The easiest way to access information for these events is through Nicholls’ academic and event calendar.
You have the opportunity to fill every single day with a new adventure. Here, you can meet friends and make connections that last a lifetime. There’s no need to stay buried in books 27/4. After all, your future friends are waiting for you.

In Conclusion…
Stay on top of the practical tasks. If you need to set reminders in your phone, do so! Be sure to stick to achievable goals and manage your time well. Show up daily–for your future and present self. Do not forget to have fun in the process. I look forward to seeing you on campus, expanding your knowledge and living life to the fullest.
