THIBODAUX, La. — Daniel Roy is a sophomore at Nicholls, majoring in mass communications. He has a passion for sports and staying informed on ongoing happenings in the world. Roy will be working with The Nicholls Worth as a sports writer this fall.
Roy plans to contribute compelling stories about Nicholls’ sports that place the reader on the field, centered in the action.
“I have always had a love for sports since a young age,” Roy said. “Playing them during middle and high school really pushed my passion for it over the top.”
Roy emphasizes that his strength comes from one of the strongest people he knows–his mother. He said that even when it seems like there is no way to accomplish something, she always makes it happen.
This has emboldened his own resilience, which is reflected in his advice to his peers to trust the process and take life one step at a time.
“Always chase your dreams,” Roy said. “Don’t listen to doubt–you can achieve anything you put your mind to and put the work in for. All of this is a stepping stone to something greater.”
Roy looks forward to connecting with the campus through a new medium—his writing.
