With the recent return of TikTok, after a few hours, what better way to celebrate than by hopping into the kitchen to test out the dishes taking the app by storm.  

From crispy rice paper dumplings to corn ribs, these four viral TikTok recipes will level up your cooking in 2025.

 

Crispy rice paper dumplings 

We’re halfway through the Chinese New Year and a popular way to celebrate is with a plate of crispy fried spring rolls. 

Some home chefs are scared to use a deep fryer or are looking for healthier options,for those who fit that category these crispy rice paper dumplings are the perfect alternative.

Ingredients:

  • rice paper wrappers
  • cup shredded cabbage
  • mushrooms (or protein of choice)
  • shredded carrots
  • green onions, chopped
  • soy sauce for dipping
  • olive oil for light pan frying

Instructions:

  1. Soften rice paper wrappers by dipping them into warm water and cut them in half. 
  2. Fill each wrapper with a mix of sauteed cabbage, mushrooms, carrots and green onions.
  3. Take the rice paper halves and fold all the sides toward the middle to create a “ball” or dumpling.
  4. Heat oil in a pan and lightly “fry” the dumplings until golden and crispy.
  5. Serve with soy sauce or your favorite dipping sauce.

Cucumber salad 

Popularized by Canadian TikToker Logan Moffitt, known for his  cucumber recipes, this cucumber salad recipe is a great way to begin a healthy start to the new year.

Ingredients 

  • cucumbers, thinly sliced
  • soy sauce
  • sesame oil
  • fish sauce 
  • sugar
  • MSG
  • salt
  • garlic (chopped)
  • green onion (chopped) 
  • chili flakes (optional)
  • sesame seeds for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, add thinly sliced cucumbers 
  2. In a separate bowl, whisk together the remaining ingredients except for the sesame seeds. 
  3. Pour the dressing over the cucumbers and toss to combine.
  4. Garnish with sesame seeds then serve chilled.

 

Corn Ribs 

If you’re tired of your typical corn on the cob, these “corn ribs” are definitely a game changer. With cheesy toppings, flavorful seasonings and dipping sauces, it’s almost impossible not to eat a whole plate full.

Ingredients:

  • whole corn
  • grated Parmesan cheese
  • chili powder
  • garlic powder
  • olive oil
  • salt and pepper to taste
  • your favorite sauce (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Slice the corn lengthwise into quarters (this creates the “ribs”).
  3. Toss the corn pieces in olive oil, chili powder, garlic powder, salt and pepper.
  4. Roast the corn in the oven for 25-30 minutes, flipping halfway through.
  5. Sprinkle with Parmesan cheese and serve with dipping sauce

Ingredients 

  • 1 lb. shredded Mozzarella cheese
  • 1 lb. shredded Colby Jack cheese 
  • 8 oz. shredded sharp cheddar cheese 
  • 1 lb. pasta 
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder 
  • 1 tsp. smoked paprika 
  • 1 tsp. salt 
  • ½ tsp. black pepper 
  • 3 tbsp. butter 
  • 3 tbsp. all purpose flour 
  • 1 can evaporated milk (12 oz)
  • 2 cups heavy cream 
  • 1 tbsp. dijon mustard 

 

Instructions 

  1. Preheat an oven to 350° 
  2. Mix all the cheeses in a large bowl then transfer half of the mixed cheese into a second bowl. 
  3. Boil the pasta in salted water according to the box instructions.
  4. Melt the butter in a pan and add half of the seasonings to the pan. 
  5. Add the flour to the pan, whisk, and cook for about 2 minutes. 
  6. Add the evaporated milk and whisk until it thickens and bubbles. 
  7. Add the heavy cream, remaining seasonings, dijon, and whisk until thickened. 
  8. Add half the cheese mixture to the pan a handful at a time and mix until incorporated.
  9. Lightly fold the pasta into the sauce until coated. 
  10. In a baking dish, layer half of the pasta, topped with half the remaining cheese mix, and repeat a second time with the remaining pasta and cheese. 
  11. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes and broil for one to two minutes or until golden.
