Tillou, Nicholls’ AI bot, gathered poll results indicating a campus-wide decline in students’ mental health.
Dr. Michelle Caruso informed the counsel that one of Tillou’s polls gathered data indicating a collective experience of poor mental health across campus at the Nov. 11 SGA meeting.
Dr. Caruso advocated for campus resources offered to struggling students, which can be found through Nicholls Counseling Center.
Students can schedule an appointment at the counseling center by calling (985) 448-4080 or visiting the office in person at 224 Elkins Hall. Dr. Caruso encouraged SGA members to support their classmates during this time.
During President Clune’s announcements, he endorsed Nicholls women’s basketball games, emphasizing the supportive nature of attendance. He described the games as engaging and fun to watch.
One public relations representative concurred with the endorsement and encouraged fellow council members to promote attendance.
Facilities updates
Additionally, President Clune announced that building repairs from Hurricane Ida’s damages are almost complete. He stated that Peltier Hall is estimated to be fully restored within two months.
Campus maintenance is directing its focus on the vegetative well-being of Nicholls. An invasive species of trees is flourishing in front of Gouaux Hall. President Clune stated that the process of removing these trees has begun, and once completed, will be beneficial to the health of Nicholls Campus.
