The Nicholls State University football team is set to play LSU in a historic football game on Sept. 7.
Nicholls faces LSU in sports every year in sports like baseball, softball, or basketball. However, Saturday will be the first time Nicholls plays LSU in football.
Opinions, from Colonels fans, on who will win are divided as Nicholls lost to Louisiana Tech in Week 1 of the season.
Tim Rebowe, Nicholls’ head football coach, said in an interview with WDSU that this game is “exciting for [the] community, exciting for the school.”
Rebowe further explained how this game is a chance to show how the team improved after last week’s loss.
“Let’s show improvement from Week 1 […] Let’s correct some of the things we know we can correct. Let’s control our effort — the things that we can do — and don’t get caught up in all the stuff around the stadium,” Rebowe said in his WDSU interview.
The game is a hot topic on campus with many students wondering who will come out victorious.
On the Nicholls Worth Instagram page, @thenichollsworth, a poll to get student opinions shows varied responses.
Nicholls’ own KNSU-TV will be reporting on the field.
