Nicholls State University’s Student Government Association president released a letter welcoming students back to campus and announced senator openings.
SGA is a student organization that works to enhance students’ college experience. Jax Badeaux, SGA president, believes that “it’s SGA’s responsibility to listen to your feedback and take action.”
According to Badeaux, SGA’s accomplishments from last year increased compared to past years based on student input.
“We added nearly 90 new parking spaces on campus after years of student and community concerns. We helped renovate the library study rooms, created an annual holiday tree lighting ceremony in front of Elkins, […] assisted Campus Police in developing an app to keep students safe and informed, and much more,” Badeaux said.
In Badeaux’s letter, he encourages students to join SGA so they can achieve this goal together.
He announced that 34 SGA senator positions are available for the 2024-25 school year. A few senator seats include liberal arts, business, education, freshman, multicultural, veterans affairs and more.
Badeaux feels being a senator lets students gain leadership skills, friends and network with individuals who can support them in “benefitting your future career and personal development.”
He believes being a part of these initiatives is a key way to impact campus and “leave your mark on this university for generations to come.”
