Nicholls men’s basketball fell to McNeese State University 74-47 on Saturday and fell to fourth place in the Southland Conference standings.
Diante Smith led Nicholls in scoring with 13 points following a 20-point performance against Texas A&M – Corpus Christi on Monday.
Nicholls scored the game’s first points on a Smith up but gave McNeese a 4-2 lead with 15:35 remaining in the first half.
Nicholls battled back after losing the early lead and took its second lead of the game at 18-16 with 6:53 remaining in the first half.
However, Nicholls felt the game began to slip away as McNeese ended the half on a 13-4 run that left Nicholls trailing 29-22 heading into the locker room.
A comeback would prove too hard to come by asa 24.1% field goal percentage plagued Nicholls in the second half.
Nicholls continues its season with a road trip to New Orleans to face UNO on Monday at 7 p.m.
