On Nov. 2, Nicholls State University co hosted the “64 Parishes” Fall 2023 Publication Party at the Arlen B. Cenac Greenhouse on campus.
“64 Parishes” is a website and magazine highlighting Louisiana’s vast culture and history. This magazine started in 2018.
Since then, it has earned various awards, such as regional and national awards from the Society of Professional Journalists.
The Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities (LEH) publishes “64 Parishes”’ findings.
According to Erin Greenwald, Vice President of Public Programs and editor-in-chief of “64 Parishes” magazine, these parties occur twice a year, once in both the spring and fall, to celebrate the newest issue.
Greenwald said “64 Parishes” works with local partners to co-host a publication party to coincide with newsstand issue releases.
This event was open to the public with complimentary food and drinks. Those in attendance had the opportunity to hear stories of Lafourche and Terrebonne Parish and the history of the Bayou Region.
Dr. Jay Clune, university president, attended the publication party with his wife Allison Clune.
Dr. Clune said, “Nicholls welcomes the Louisiana Endowment for the Humanities and the launch party for the ”64 Parishes” magazine launch party. LEH is incredibly important to our state. The humanities are needed now more than ever, and ”64 Parishes” is an outstanding publication, and this edition has a local story!”
