Nicholls State University’s Art Department is hosting its annual on-campus food drive.
Nicholls Can is a campus-wide event that gathers non-perishable food and items for donation. It began in 2012, and since then, Nicholls Can has collected nearly 147,800 items for local food banks.
Starting Oct. 30, to Nov. 8, Nicholls students and community members can contribute to the food drive.
The following non-food products are items that food stamps cannot buy and are regularly needed in food banks:
- Toilet Paper
- Shampoo
- Kleenex
- Floor Cleaner
- Bath Soap
- Tooth Paste
- Tooth Brushes
- Sanitary Napkins
- Washing Powder
- Comet
- Dishwashing Liquid
- Diapers
- Baby Wipes
- Paper Towels
Nicholls’ Mom’s Pantry and local food banks in Thibodaux, Houma, Raceland, Galiano, Morgan City and Dulac will receive the contributions. All items may be delivered to the student union from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. according to the Nicholls campus events calendar.
Cash and checks can be used for monetary donations. Monetary donations may be delivered to the Nicholls Can representative in the department of your choice or mailed to the Department of Art. All checks should be made out to the Nicholls Foundation.
Donating online is also an option at https://www.nicholls.edu/nicholls-can/.
