Having good mental health is an important aspect of life as it allows for a productive daily life, and the Nicholls Psychology Club strives towards that goal.
The Nicholls Psychology Club is a registered student organization at Nicholls State University. It seeks out students who aim towards promoting mental health awareness and suicide prevention.
As all organizations do, events are planned to develop a presence on campus. These occasions throughout the semester create and develop a safe learning environment for students of all majors. Now that the school year is well on its way, those who visit campus will soon get to experience said events.
Taylor Riche, Psychology Club President, said, “We plan to have multiple bake sales to raise club funds and tables in the union to promote positive mental health and give out our fan favorite stickers. Additionally, we plan to have our student body favorite—puppy therapy—again this fall semester.”
September is Suicide Prevention Month so the Psychology Club is planning to attend a community event.
“There is a Bayou Region Suicide Prevention walk being put on by the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention [AFSP] on Nov. 4 at 9a.m. in Peltier Park. We are working on getting a Nicholls Psychology Club team started to attend and raise money for the AFSP as a club,” said Riche.
