Best ways to destress during Finals

With finals just around the corner, students are busy preparing and overworking for their last stretch before summer break.

It is important to remember to take time to relax and recoup during this stressful time. Self care is key to keeping your body and mind well.

With that being said, here are a few ways to give your brain a break and relax for a bit.

The link above can take you to a site the Counseling Center on campus has put together to help reduce stress and increase relaxation. The site includes breathing exercises, guided meditation videos, study sounds, gratitude prompts, and even games. This site is perfect to take advantage of in the middle of finals.

Take A Walk

A nice walk outside is a great way to enjoy the weather while giving your mind a rest at the same time. Soak up the sun!

Practice Gratitude

When you become overwhelmed with all that is going on around you and all that you have to do, take a step back and be thankful for the opportunities you were given. Rewire your brain to see things in a positive light. This new perspective can ease your stress.

Exercise

Release those endorphins! A quick exercise study break is a good way to benefit your physical and mental health. Kill two birds with one stone, and open that book back up feeling motivated and accomplished.

Counseling Center on Campus

If you feel as if you can’t help yourself, take advantage of the counseling center on campus. Licensed counselors are willing to help you for free! They are certified and trained to help you with your needs.
